day 057: Champagne Leader Tour Fundraiser
My friends are going on tour this summer!
Here are some photos from the night. Not the best.
Note to self: get a flash.
“No place I’d rather be, No place I’d rather be”
Lancifer
I think I fell in love with this young man’s abs.
unknown drummer.
I didn’t get the name of the band this drummer was in. But I’m on the prowl for it.
Also, he was pretty cute.
Not supposed to be too person on this blog, remember?
day 054: Collaborative Effort.
I was commissioned by a Art Lopez, my good friend and papier-mâché artist, to photograph the highlights of La Puente for the city’s second art walk poster. Art was actually the one who designed the poster.
The photo chosen for Un Poquito Más Arte’s poster was a photo of the old Star Theatre, because it is arguably the only thing one can associate with La Puente.
But, through the efforts of the local artists, the image is slowly changing, to bring culture and art to the otherwise blank city.
So, if you’re in the area, save the date!
Hong Kong Radio Innards
There is nothing on the radio to identify the name of it, or the company other than the name HONG KONG, which is presumably where it was made.
found this among cameras I inherited from my Gramps.
It takes 9V batteries, so it’ll play music again, soon.
TW: Use if some unsavory words for a homosexual male.
day 043: A little about me and some Labels
OK, so it has come to my attention that some of you don’t know that much about me. So here is a quick bio.
My name is Denis (not really spelled that way) and I am vegan, a cat lover, Nintendo obsessed, an atheist and yes, a homosexual.
I really don’t have a problem with the word “faggot” when it is used by a homosexual to describe oneself, as if it were a descriptor like “dyke” or “queer.” Sodomite is just a silly word used by religious nuts to put LGBT people down and it has no real meaning, and is erroneously used as a derogatory term. It isn’t hurtful, it’s just a stupid sounding word.
I do have a problem with it if it used as a derogatory term, to mean one is “less than a man,” whatever the fuck that means, anyway. I have been called a faggot once by my father, and it has haunted me since.
My relationship with the word faggot is strained. What does it mean when I call myself a faggot? Does it mean that I am shy but charismatic young man, artistic, witty, quick to anger yet slow to violence? Is it a person who seeks social justice for all downtrodden and under-represented?
Yes. It means all these things.
And before I go, I would also like to note, because it seems to have escaped some of my recent new followers that I also have a problem when people try to infringe on the rights of others by pushing faith-based legislation, including limiting access to birth control and abortions, banning same-sex adoption and marriage, teaching Creationism and not teaching Sex-Ed. Basically sticking gods where they don’t belong.
I a vehemently pro-reproductive rights, pro-LGBT rights and pro-women’s rights (and those rights are not just limited to cisgendered women, mind you). If you have problem with my stance on these issues, then I suggest you follow another blog.
Thank you and good day.
